The previous focus of the AH-1109 was as a catch all location that lacked organization and application of usability policies. No overall purpose was considered for the space and the users suffered due to this lack of forethought. Our proposed redesign uses solid educational concepts and usability methods to support a new focus on learning. All aspects of the redesign consider how all elements might impact the users. The main goals of learning by collaboration and promotion of informal learning spaces are well aligned with the purpose of the room. Faculty needs more support on today’s technology and such an inviting and technologically advanced space is the answer to this need.
